Everyday tools deserve better design. Too many small utility apps are cluttered, slow, and careless with user data.

The Problem

Receipt trackers, pantry tools, and expense apps should be boring in the best way: quick to open, clear to use, and dependable when there is no connection. Instead, many of them require accounts, push cloud sync before local value, or bury simple tasks under busy interfaces.

Our Approach

  • Privacy first. Data should stay on your device unless you explicitly move it.
  • Offline by default. Core workflows should work without an internet connection.
  • Simple by design. Each app should do a small set of jobs well.
  • Open source. The code should be inspectable and easy to improve.

What We Are Building

The first wave focuses on practical Android tools:

  • Receipt Tracker for storing and exporting receipts.
  • Pantry Expiry Scanner for knowing what needs using next.
  • Expenses Tracker for manual, local-first spending records.

Better Apps is not trying to become a platform. It is a collection of useful tools that stay close to the user.
